SEPTt EXPÉRIMENTo transformed a 1000sf community gallery space from an empty gallery from the beginning of the month to a space that is filled with work and activities that were produced during the month. This concept challenges the idea of a traditional gallery model of one-month-long static exhibitions and asks the question of how else a community gallery space could serve the needs of the artist, the creative community and the community at large. During the course of the month, the physical space was activated as a place for ideation and experimentation; for prototyping large-scale mockups; for constructing 2D and 3D work as well as time-based experiments such as real-time projection involving dancers and musicians. Young also invited guest designer, Steve Mehallo to showcase his newly designed game, Flomm: the Battle for Modern 1923. Together, the gallery also served as a place for lectures and forums that provided opportunities to create dialogues with the creative community about the modernist movement and contemporary design, and provided education to the public.
