The paintings for this exhibition consist of many layers of repeating geometric forms that are composed and transformed on the computer. My interest lies in a pictorial investigation that examines a system of perception of energetic space through movement and rhythm.

Working within a contemplative system — appropriating, distorting, revising, re-contextualizing—I am able to create space and planes that are distinct and have a tangible location in pictorial depth.

I have chosen to use patterns from nature that have circular movement with lines that expand towards the edges creating forces that make the image appear larger and solid. The aim is to achieve a three-dimensional effect, distinct from illusion, that maintains the flatness of the picture plane and feels whole and alive.

About the Artist: Chuck Seerey has resided in Sacramento, California for over 20 years. After working for an Information Technology company for 15 years he was able to fulfill a long-held desire of making art full-time. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting and Drawing, from Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas.
