Work in this exhibit is comprised of rich painting and textile-based work, sound sculptures and installations, drawing and three-dimensional installations. The artists in this exhibit all carry a material handling into the studio and this surmises the strength and power of their creations: that they be made of the hand.

As many of us shifted or were forced to pivot our work, practice or studio lives, these artists moved through the most challenging parts of the past two years making work in the studio.

The studio is a place unlike others. In the studio these artists have created and continue to make exciting and challenging contemporary art. With the hand, thread, fabric, board and mixed-media approaches, a strong sense of the artists touch is apparent within this show.

The shift back towards the office and classroom is underway. But the artists in Material Handling have had the keen insight to work through the difficult moments thrust upon us, create powerful, touching and exciting work during a time of tumult and present artwork for the viewer to experience.
